Lisa grew up in a musical home, played piano, and was a member of the award-winning New Generation Choir in her teens. She also enjoyed singing in musicals with Nanaimo Theatre Group and spent many years working as a costumer for local theatre companies. More recently she sang with Camerata Singers, and with the Vancouver Island Symphony Choir under Patricia Plumley's directorship. Singing with A Cappella Plus is a wonderful opportunity to further explore her love of singing all kinds of music...and to sing with her sister Mila. Lisa works at The Port Theatre as Administrative Assistant. Weekends are spent with her other great love, her granddaughter.
Music has always been a big part of Heather’s life. Growing up in Powell River she played piano and clarinet, and sang in a quartet called The Four Sharps. During her teaching career, she taught classroom music and directed elementary school choirs and musicals. She has learned a lot from, and enjoyed singing in, a variety of choirs over the years in both Richmond and Nanaimo. Presently, she is having a wonderful time singing with AC+ as well as loving her singing lessons with Patricia Plumley. She also enjoys her recorder studies at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music, and likes vocal and instrumental workshops and camps. When not busy with her music, travel or family and friends, you will see her out learning and perfecting as many dances as time permits.
Eleanor has been involved in music and singing in choirs most of her life. Most recently she sang with the award-winning Christ Church Cathedral Choir in Vancouver. She completed undergraduate studies in music at Brandon University in Manitoba, playing trumpet and piano. She has played in numerous bands, orchestras, and small ensembles in Manitoba and BC, and taught brass, piano, and early childhood music for many years before a career transition took her in new directions. She recently moved from the Lower Mainland and is now enjoying living and working on beautiful Vancouver Island. When not working or singing, she can be found training her dog in obedience, agility, and whatever other fun activity they can find, or getting out on the water via kayak or paddle board. She is excited to be joining A Cappella Plus for the 2023/24 season!
"Mila has been involved with music, playing and teaching piano and singing in choirs for most of her life. She joined A Cappella Plus in 2011 and feels she has found the perfect combination of musical challenge and camaraderie with her fellow choristers. When not singing, she enjoys time with her family and friends, traveling, reading, and going to any kind of artistic presentation, be it a movie, play, art display or concert."
Susan enjoys the sense of community that comes with singing in a choir. Her first choral experience was in Toronto where she grew up and earned her B.Mus. She then spent over a decade in Calgary hiking the beautiful Rocky Mountains and teaching piano. She recently moved to Nanaimo and enjoys spending her time reading lots of books, playing the viola da gamba, practicing yoga, playing Bach's preludes and fugues, going antiquing, sight reading trio sonatas, making new friendships and singing, of course. She would love to find a group that plays 90's hip hop and r&b while eating Asian snacks.
